Rest In Peace Robin Williams

Honestly, I never felt so heartbroken over a celebrity death than when Robin Williams passed away (8/11/2014).  He truly was one of the greatest!  Some of my favorite movies he played in were, Jumanji, Night at the Museum, and he was great as Genie in Aladdin.  Rest in peace Robin Williams.

Let's remember to pray for those suffering from depression.

O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose, Your will through all things.

National Friendship Day

Happy National Friendship Day!

Faithful friends are a sturdy shelter;
whoever finds one finds a treasure.
Faithful friends are beyond price,
no amount can balance their worth.
Faithful friends are life-saving medicine;
those who fear God will find them.

What's Been Happening

Hey everyone!

I haven't updated you all on some resent happenings. My grandmother passed away Saturday, June 21 on the feast of St. Aloysius (the patron Saint of my grandfather). I'm 18 hours away from home in FL. The funeral was held out here. Now I'm just visiting with my Aunt.

My family and I think she probably suffered internal bleeding (she fell in her apartment). She came over for dinner the same day she passed away and we were all home to spend time with her (it's been pretty rare when everyone in my family is home at the same time). She wasn't feeling herself that evening, so we had a priest come to give her the Last Rites. It wasn't until, after we brought her back to her room (at an assisted living facility not to far from our house) that she fell and was taken to the hospital. My mom and dad were with her when she died. If you could all pray for the repose of her soul, my family and I would be truly grateful.

Well, as homesick as I am, FL has been pretty nice. I'm working on my tan, swimming, going on family walks, went to see How To Train Your Dragon 2 (it was a great movie!), enjoying my aunt's great cooking, and watching some fun tv shows and movies (we don't have cable at home and my aunt does). We might do some shopping later this week. I will be sharing pictures of the trip soon!

Anxiety

Hello friends!

I just have a quick favor to ask of you.  If you all could say some prayers for me, I would be very grateful.  My anxiety has been pretty bad lately.  I need to work on completely trusting in God, figuring out what He wants of me, and accepting it.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart and know that I am praying for you!

God bless you!

Please Pray

This was sent to me by email this morning.  Please pray for these two priests and their families.

"Dear Confraternity Members, Your prayers as members of our extended family through the Confraternity of St Peter are urgently needed. Last night in the U.S.A. the Fraternity Rectory in Phoenix was broken into. District Superior Fr. Eric Flood was contacted at 2am by the police who informed him that Fr. Kenneth Walker, FSSP had been killed and that Fr. Joseph Terra was in critical condition. The families of the two priests have been informed.

Fr Walker was 29 years and had been ordained a priest 2 years ago. Please offer your daily decade of the Rosary and the Confraternity Prayer today and in the coming days for the repose of the soul of this young priest and for the health of Fr. Terra, as well as for strength for their families and their parishioners in this tragedy. Rev. Fr. Armand de Malleray, FSSP"

Please remember to pray for all our priests.

God bless you!

Words from Our Blessed Mother on Modesty/Purity

The following are words from the Blessed Mother:

"More souls go to Hell because of sins of the flesh than for any other reason."
"Certain fashions will be introduced that will offend Our Lord very much."
"Woe to women lacking in modesty."

The following are words from Blessed Jacinta Marto, who, along with Blessed Francisco Marto and Lucia dos Santos, had seen a vision of Hell:

"Oh, Hell! Oh, Hell!" "Mother of God have pity on those who do not amend their lives." "If men only know what awaits them in eternity, they would do everything in their power to change their lives."

I don't mean to be a downer by sharing this.  I just hope that those who read this will realize how important it is to be modest and pure. :)

Happy Memorial Day!

Prayer for Deceased Veterans

O God, by Whose mercy the faithful departed find rest,
look kindly on Your departed veterans

they may share in the joy of your heavenly kingdom
and rejoice in You with Your saints forever.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

A sincere thank you to all veterans, police officers, firemen, and
all who risk/have risked their lives to protect millions from harm.

Happy Mother's Day!

The Most Important Person
on earth is a mother. She
cannot claim the honor of
having built Notre Dame
Cathedral. She need not. She
has built something more
magnificent than any
cathedral—a dwelling for an
immortal soul, the tiny
perfection of her baby's
body...The angels have not
been blessed with such a
grace. They cannot share in
God's creative miracle to bring
new saints to Heaven. Only a
human mother can. Mothers
are closer to God the Creator
than any other creature; God
joins forces with mothers in
performing this act of
creation... What on God's
good earth is more glorious
than this: to be a mother?

119th Birthday

(Photo from www.thecatholictreasurechest.com/sheen.htm)

Today would have been Archbishop Fulton John Sheen's 119th Birthday. His writings are amazing! Since I have been on the modesty/purity/chastity topic, I will share some of what he had to say regarding these topics.

"Chastity is not an impossible virtue. Even those who have it not, may yet possess it. St. Augustine calls Mary Magdalen "the arch-virgin." Think of it! The "arch-virgin." He puts her next to the Blessed Mother in virginity; Magdalen, this common prostitute of the streets! She recovered purity, we might almost say, by receiving in anticipation of the Eucharist, the night she bathed the feet of our Lord with her tears. That day she came in contact with purity, and she so lived out its implications that within a short time we find her at the foot of the cross on Good Friday. But who stands beside her? It is no other then the Blessed Mother. What a remarkable companionship! A woman whose name a few months ago was synonymous with sin, and the Blessed Virgin! If Mary loved Magdalen, then why cannot she love us? If there was hope for Magdalen, then there can be hope for us. If she recovered purity, then it can be recovered by us. But how, except through Mary, for why is she called Mother Most Pure except to make us pure?"

(From The Cross and The Beatitudes, Lessons on Love and Forgiveness by Fulton J. Sheen)

The One On Modesty

Hello everyone! I hope you all are well and are having a most joyous and blessed Easter Season!

As many of my family and friends already know, modesty means a lot to me. Lately, I've noticed that impure dress and behavior is growing much worse. It deeply saddens me to see so many good people dress and behave in this way. There would be fewer sins against Chastity if more people dressed appropriately and avoided impure movies, music, books, and images (especially on the internet). The world would just be a better place. Dressing modestly and acting in a modest behavior isn't old-fashioned or hard to do. Wearing clothes that covers is awesome. There are amazing styles out there.

In my opinion, any outfit one wears cannot be transparent, formfitting, or the exact color of ones skin. Shoulders and knees should be covered (longer shorts and tank tops that are not strappy are fine). And ones cleavage and midriff must be covered. It's pretty simple. There are so many popular styles out there that meet or can be made to meet these standards. Also, asking yourself if a particular outfit is asking for trouble can be helpful in picking out an appropriate outfit .

I don't think these modesty suggestions are strict at all. Saint Padre Pio was extremely strict regarding modesty. "Padre Pio wouldn't tolerate low-necked dresses or short, tight skirts, and he forbade his spiritual daughters to wear transparent stockings. Each year his severity increased. He stubbornly dismissed them from his confessional, even before they set foot inside, if he judged them to be improperly dressed. On some mornings he drove away one after another, until he ended up hearing very few confessions. His brothers observed these drastic purges with a certain uneasiness and decided to fasten a sign on the church door; 'By Padre Pio's explicit wish, women must enter the confessional wearing skirts AT LEAST 8 INCHES BELOW THE KNEE. IT IS FORBIDDEN TO BORROW LONGER DRESSES IN CHURCH AND TO WEAR THEM TO CONFESSION.'" (www.franciscan-archive.org/padrepio).  Times have changed and so have styles.  What was considered inappropriate then isn't exactly inappropriate now, but certain clothing will definitely never be considered appropriate.   St. Padre Pio must have needed to be that strict for one reason or another to help the women (and I'm sure some men) of the time grow closer to God.

Also, The Catechism of the Catholic Church states:

"2521 Purity requires modesty, an integral part of temperance. Modesty protects the intimate center of the person. It means refusing to unveil what should remain hidden. It is ordered to chastity to whose sensitivity it bears witness. It guides how one looks at others and behaves toward them in conformity with the dignity of persons and their solidarity.

2522 Modesty protects the mystery of persons and their love. It encourages patience and moderation in loving relationships; it requires that the conditions for the definitive giving and commitment of man and woman to one another be fulfilled. Modesty is decency. It inspires one's choice of clothing. It keeps silence or reserve where there is evident risk of unhealthy curiosity. It is discreet.

2523 There is a modesty of the feelings as well as of the body. It protests, for example, against the voyeuristic explorations of the human body in certain advertisements, or against the solicitations of certain media that go too far in the exhibition of intimate things. Modesty inspires a way of life which makes it possible to resist the allurements of fashion and the pressures of prevailing ideologies."

Here is a link to a past article I shared on modesty. www.littleromans.blogspot.com/2013/09/an-article-on-modesty.html

It's time that women and men alike start respecting the beautiful bodies God gave them. If we don't respect our own bodies others won't either.

Have a wonderful day and God bless!

Please Act Now

* (Post update 1/27/14:
www.nationalrighttolifenews.org/news/2014/01/marlise-munoz-pregnant-brain-dead-woman-removed-from-life-support-baby-dies/#.UucSQSEo4nI *

I received this in an email.  Please call or email immediately to help save the lives of Marlise and Baby Munoz.

2012 ALL logo

URGENT ALERT
Will you make a phone call or send an e-mail to save Baby Munoz' life?
I am writing today with an URGENT request. There is a preborn baby in Texas who will be put to death by Monday at 5:00 PM if all of us don't act immediately.

Since November 26, 2013, Baby Munoz' mother, Marlise Munoz, has been treated at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. Marlise was found unconscious by her husband and was taken to the hospital. She was put on life support and has been taken care of by the hospital for the last eight weeks. She is pregnant and her baby is still alive. Baby Munoz is just 22 weeks old and needs to stay in mom's womb for a few more weeks to have a good chance of survival.

The problem is that Marlise Munoz has been declared "brain dead" by doctors and the doctors, her husband, and her parents want treatment stopped. They want Marlise and her baby to be killed. The hospital has been the good guy here and has refused to stop treatment. The family took the hospital to court and, on Friday...

The judge ordered the hospital to kill both the mother and child by taking life support away from the mother!

The hospital is considering whether or not to appeal the ruling. Any appeal will give Baby Munoz more time to develop and increase the chances of survival.

Because of the "brain death" declaration, many people are making this into a complicated case. It is not. Your American Life League has been fighting these "Brain Death" declarations for years and, sadly, we predicted just this kind of thing, and worse, would happen. I could write volumes on why "brain death" is NOT true death and why medical personnel could not keep a truly dead person functioning for 8 weeks.

But we don't have time for that. We need to save this mother and child and we need to do it immediately.

We need you to call the hospital and beg them to continue fighting for the mother and child and to appeal the judge's ruling. Call or e-mail and thank them for what they have been doing and beg them to appeal.

Call the hospital president and CEO, Robert Earley at 817-702-3431. You can also reach the Chief Operating Officer, Bill Whitman, at the same number.
E-mail the Chairman of the Board, Trent Petty, at: BoardChair@jpshealth.org

Whether you call or e-mail, you need to do it immediately. Baby Munoz will be dead by Monday evening if we do not act NOW.

Thank you and pray that God will save this mother and child.

Resent Happenings

Hello friends!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, is having a Blessed Christmas Season and a Happy New Year's Day (also the Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary)!

Life had been pretty wonderful lately.  I've been spending extra time with family and friends, enjoying the snow, working, reading a bit about the saints, and going to the movies.  I went to see Thor: The Dark World, Frozen, and The Hobbit, The Desolation of Smaug.  Thor was good!  Loki was awesome in it! lol  Frozen was amazing!  I'm a kid when it comes to movies and I'm proud of it.   It had such a sweet story.  And The Desolation of Smaug was simply awesome!  Even though Peter Jackson added a character that wasn't from the book (Tauriel), she was ok.  Three movies in one month...that was a first for me.

Lately, I've also been enjoying music, particularly movie soundtracks.  In my opinion, the music from the first Thor movie is the best movie music ever!  Frozen's music was good as well!  Here are some of my favorites:

From Thor:

From Frozen (I am sharing karaoke versions of two of the songs.  The lyrics might spoil the movie for those who have not seen the movie):
