Thanksgiving is Coming Up!

Sorry once again for not being as active as I wish.

Who is excited for Thanksgiving?
I must say it is one of my all time favorite holidays.  My dad and sister will run a race on Thanksgiving morning.  The proceeds help support of the homeless people in our area.  Preparing for the big dinner is enjoyable.  I love playing bluegrass music as I set the table.  I enjoy watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.  Of course the meal is wonderful!  My favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal is the turkey, gravy, mashed potatos and cranberry sauce.  Trying a little of all four in one bite is heavenly!  And spending time with family and friends is the best part of the day.  This year, three cousins from out-of-state are coming for Thanksgiving.  I haven't seen them in about 11 years, so I'm very excited to see them again.
I'm very thankful for all the pleasures God sends when Autumn arrives!
So what do you love about Thanksgiving Day?

God bless!

R.I.P. Dan Wheldon

I don't watch car racing extremely often, but today I decided to.  Sadly, there was a fatal car accident at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  Dan Wheldon (age 33) died in the crash.  15 cars were involved in the crash and there are other racers in the hospital.  Please pray for the soul of Dan Wheldon.  Please pray for his wife, his two little sons, and his whole family.  Also pray for his pit crew and friends.  It's so sad how his life ended so suddenly and tragically.

Awesome quotes

I love touching, inspirational, and funny quotes!  They are excellent for putting you in a good mood if necessary. XD

Here are my favorites:

“If the person you are talking to doesn't appear to be listening, be patient. It may simply be that he has a small piece of fluff in his ear.”

 ~Winnie the Pooh

“If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together.. there is something you must always remember. you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. but the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you.”

 ~Winnie the Pooh

“Do or do not... there is no try.”  ~Yoda

Aragorn: "You already had it."

[Aragorn turns and walks off]
Merry: "I don't think he knows about second breakfast, Pip."
Pippin: "What about elevenses? Luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper? He knows about them, doesn't he?"
Merry: "I wouldn't count on it."
~The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (film)

Frodo: "I will take it! I will take it! [silence falls] I will take the Ring to Mordor. Though... I do not know the way."

Legolas: "And you have my bow."
Gimli: "And my axe."
Boromir: "You carry the fates of us all, little one. If this is indeed the will of the Council, then Gondor will see it done."
[Sam appears from behind some bushes.]
Sam: "Here! Mr. Frodo's not going anywhere without me!"
Elrond: "No, indeed. It is hardly possible to separate you, even when he is summoned to a secret council and you are not."
[Merry and Pippin run into the Council meeting]
Merry: "Oi! Wait! We're coming too! You'll have to send us home tied up in a sack to stop us!"
Pippin: "Anyway, you need people of intelligence on this sort of mission... quest... thing."
Merry: "Well, that rules you out, Pip."
Elrond: "Nine companions. So be it. You shall be the Fellowship of the Ring."
Pippin: "Great.  Where are we going?"
~The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (film)

Lucy Pevensie: "Aslan, will we ever meet with you in our world?"
Aslan: "You shall."
Lucy Pevensie: "How?"
Aslan: "Because there I have another name. You must learn to know me by that name. This was the very reason why you were brought to Narnia, that knowing me here for a little, you may know me better there."

Flynn Rider: "I will."

Favorite Prayers

I thought it would be a good idea to start a topic on favorite prayers.  Two of my all time favorites are the Anima Christi and the Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi.  Please share yours!

Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, be my sanctification;
Body of Christ, be my salvation;
Blood of Christ, fill all my veins;
Water of Christ's side, wash out my stains;
Passion of Christ, my comfort be;
O good Jesus, listen to me;
In Thy wounds I fain would hide;
Ne'er to be parted from Thy side;
Guard me, should the foe assail me;
Call me when my life shall fail me;
Bid me come to Thee above,
With Thy saints to sing Thy love,
World without end. Amen.

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek

to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen

Suggestions

Well, I was thinking about an official name for my blog and maybe a description (the description would be where the JMJ is.).  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  I wasn't planning to keep the blog title I have now.  I just had to think of something quick so I could get the blog going.    So yeah, if you have any suggestions, please feel free to share!

Apple Picking in the Rain

What a delightful experience it was to go apple picking in the rain today!  Around 11:30am, my family and I left the house to go apple picking.  It was all bright and sunny when we left.  As we got closer to the apple orchard, it began to get cloudier, and eventually is started to downpour.  Well, the rain started to slow down when we got to the apple orchard, so we decided to go pick some (about 38 pounds to be exact).  After about 10 minutes of apple picking, it started to downpour again, but instead of running wild to the van, we ran wild picking some more apples.  What fun!  After we payed, we snacked on apples and tried to dry off as we drove home.

Night Parties!

My idea of a night party is sitting 'round a fire (in a metal barrel XD) roasting marshmallows and making delicious, hot, smores, spending hours talking about lots of random stuff, listening to music and dancing to Sleigh Ride (the one sung by Relient K XD), going on walks at 10:30pm and walking past a Japanese sushi bar that is open and closed at the same time, and then going back home to the computer to play with google translate, google earth, this Lifespan Calculator (http://media.nmfn.com/tnetwork/lifespan/), and to look up ways to trick your college room mates.  Truly, last night was an amazing night spent with awesome friends.

Scenic Pictures

Today, I thought I'd share some scenic pictures!  I love taking pictures even though I'm not very good.  My camera is also pretty bad.  It would be amazing to be a photographer!

I thought the one picture with the palm tree and what looks like a pink bubble looks awesome.  Couldn't do that again if I tried.

Hope you like them!

Prolife Bands

Hello!   Today, I thought I'd share with you all a link to a list of ProLife Bands.  Here is the link: http://therockforlife.wordpress.com/music/bands-who-support-life/  I haven't heard of all these bands, but it's nice to know that there are a lot of bands out there that support life!
I'll also share with you the link to the list of bands who advocate abortion.
  http://therockforlife.wordpress.com/music/bands-who-advocate-abortion/  I'm disappointed to see bands that play music that I listen to on this list.  Please keep them in your prayers.

Thank you Rock For Life for providing these lists!

Chicken update:  We are checking the chicken coop and the chicken run for eggs more frequently.  That's the only thing we can do to keep them from eating their eggs right now.   Well, my sister put golf balls in the chicken run.  Doing that is suppose to make the chickens use to seeing egg-like objects and lose interest in them.  Hopefully that will work.  Today, we got three eggs, one of which was crushed and eaten.  The shell of the crushed egg was weak, so we need to make sure that they are getting more calcium.  There are probably three layers now.

Oh Those Chickens...

Well, I think at least two of our chickens are laying eggs now.   They've laid a total of 5 eggs so far.  We've only got three of them though...  The chickens ate the other two!   So yeah...we've been trying to think up ways to keep them from eating their own eggs.  We thought of filling an emptied egg with mustard.  We kind of tried it, only we spread mustard on the inside of half an egg shell and placed it in the "chicken coop" with the shell facing upward and surrounded by hay so it would look more like a whole egg.   Well, it's probably not going to keep them from wanting to eat more of their eggs because they apparently enjoyed eating it.  I'm sure we'll figure something out eventually.

Just An Awesome Saturday

Well, today my family and I went to a ProLife Race!  It was an awesome experience.  I didn't run.  Maybe I will next year, or at least volunteer.  Two of my younger sisters, my dad, and some good friends of ours, all ran in the race.  They did very well!  They all placed in their own age categories!  I also met up with some friends I hadn't seen in a while.  The race was very well organized.  Some good songs were played (like "Live Like You're Dying" by Kris Allen, "Lean On Me"  by...well...I'm not sure who sang that version...so many different artists sing that song, and a couple other good random songs).

Well going to this race has rekindled my desire to be more involved in ProLife activities.  I use to be pretty involved, but after a while school and side jobs prevented me from being very active.  I've prayed in front of abortion mills, and volunteered at ProLife pregnancy centers before and would really like to start doing those things again.

Well, when we all got back from the race, I did my Saturday chores (I know...fun, fun right?) and then walked down town, where I briefly checked out the Library, a consignment shop, and then walked to Church for an hour.  And in between all these activities I got to see my Aunt, Uncle, a cute little cousin!

So yeah, today was a fun filled day.

Our First Egg!

Today, I woke up to one of my sister's exclaiming "We have an Egg!!!"
So finally, after a little more than 4 months, we have...well...one egg...  Our other 4 chickens better hurry up and start laying!

We don't know which chicken laid the egg, but here is a picture of one of them.

and here is a picture of the egg!

and here are a couple pictures of our chickens when they were chicks.

Enjoy the pictures!

What an Awesome Day!

Sorry about not posting often.   Life has been crazy, in an awesome way!  Long trips on the weekends, work on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and emailing like crazy (oh how I love to email friends!)  There's also the weekday tasks that keep me pretty busy...like trying to keep my room neat.  Well, today was a fun day indeed!  I spent pretty much the whole day with a good friend!  We visited lots and lots of very nice shops!  We looked at formal dresses, purses...you know...girl stuff.   We also looked at some really funny birthday/greeting cards!  Some were hilarious!  Some were so cute too!  Card shopping can be so fun! (you gotta be careful though...there's a lotta undesirable ones out there...)  We went out for lunch and had sweet potato fries with a special tango dip!  They were so yummy!  After lunch and checking out some more shops, we went out for ice cream!  The people serving us were so friendly and gave us tastes of the ice cream we wanted to try.  They also gave us two different flavors of ice cream on one cone.  I got dark chocolate and black coffee!  So good!  After that, we went to my friend's house and watched some great youtube videos!  Yes indeedy, it was a perfect day!

(Wow!  That was one of my longer posts! XD  I'm still determined to keep up with this blog!!!)

Baby Blue Jay!

Yesterday, my younger sister rescued a baby blue jay from a cat!  The little bird wasn't harmed.  It's such a cutie!   My sis is feeding the baby bird smashed worms, some chicken feed, and water.  lol  So now, we have 5 chickens and a baby blue jay! ^_^  I took some pics.  I'll post them as soon as I get them on my laptop!

Contra Dancing!

Yesterday, my sisters and I went to a contra dance!  It was my second contra dance and my sisters first.  We all had a blast!  I saw old friends that I hadn't seen in years!  My little sisters were very good at dancing too!  Sadly, it was the last contra dance for a while.  They are taking a break for the summer.  I wish the events we take part in didn't have to stop during the summer.

Happy Music?

Just recently, I realized that almost more than half of the music I listen to have sad tunes...  I love happy catchy music!  Does anyone have any happy music suggestions?   I like pop,  soft rock and techno best, as long as they're clean.

Three more to go!  I finished the Hobbit and it was amazing!  It will make an awesome movie that's for sure!  As I read the book, I kept thinking about the seven dwarves for some weird reason. lol

The Hobbit!

Who is excited for the upcoming Hobbit movie??  I can't wait!  By the way, I starting reading the book.  It's very good so far (I'm very very sure that the whole thing is!)  I love the character descriptions!  And I am also very determined to finish it before the movie comes out in December 2012.

Ouch...

Today was interesting!  I got bit by a dog!  I've been nipped many times, but this time, it was actually a bite! lol  It didn't hurt much though.

Anyway, I thought I'd share this today...

The Busyness!

Life has been pretty busy!  I've pretty much had to work on two Church bulletins in one week because the Easter bulletin had to be done earlier than usual.  I can't believe that Easter is this Sunday!  Lent went by so fast!  I have my own car now which is awesome!  It's a Gold 2002 Toyota Camry.  I'm very slowly learning that song "How to Save a Life" on the piano.  I haven't gotten to far because of the busyness.  Last Sunday (Palm Sunday), I watched "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" with the whole family!  It was sooo fun!  My two youngest sibs LOVED it!  During the one part of the movie, when Reepicheep calls Eustace "Extraordinary!" with his strong accent, of course everyone had to try to say it the same way!  Well, everyone said it the right way except my brother, who said "A Strawberry!" instead.  Soooo cute!

Beautiful Day!

Today was soooo beautiful!!!  The sun was out all day!  It's so warm and kinda windy too!  I played kickball with the neighborhood kids.  My team lost.  lol  I went on a few small walks.  My sister took me for a nice long ride on my brother's trick bike too!  So, yeah, I spent most of the day outside!

And now I'm off to go back outside!

(Lame I know, but hey! This is what's on my mind!)

Favorite TV Shows!

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days!  I guess there will be times when I won't be able to post every day...oh well.

Anyway, I've been thinking about awesome tv shows.  I can't see them all the time because I don't have cable.  My favorites are actually cooking shows on the Food Network!  There's "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives", "Chopped", "Iron Chef America", "Good Eats",  "Throwdown with Bobby Flay", Worst Cooks in America", The Best Thing I Ever Ate", and "Unwrapped".  And then there's "When Vacations Attack" on the Travel Channel (I think).   I watch Little House on the Prarie and Andy Griffith sometimes.  There's also this Little Women anime series that I've been interested in too!  I love Little Women!

So, anyone care to share what they like to watch?

How to Save a Life!

Just out of the blue today, I started humming How to Save a Life by The Fray.  And then I hit me!  I've got to learn this song on the piano!  The piano in that song is amazing!  Here's the video I'm going to try to learn from (You can listen to the whole thing if you want, but it's long.  The first part of the video is the actual song and the second part is the song played extremely slowly:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYjN2kmRj3Y&feature=related
Here's part 2 of the song (played extremely slowly lol)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OScOaArQ-wM&feature=related

and this person plays it sooo well! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvPEEZ9nuUw&feature=related

I really like this song as you can see.

Cute video!

Today was a busy day! I had lots of fun with a friend all this morning and at noon I went to work.

Regular Activities

Lately, I've been thinking about activities I could do on a regular basis, besides work and babysitting. I use to be on a track team. I was a member for about 6-8 years. We use to meet twice a week and have a track meet twice a year! Eventually, the coach went to college, so everyone stopped meeting. I use to sing in the Church choir. That was a while ago, but it was very fun! We'd practice once a week, and sing at Mass on the last Sunday of every month (sometimes more often if there was an extra special occasion). I also took piano lessons pretty much once a week for about 4 years.

So, I've been thinking, maybe volunteering would be a good idea. And maybe setting one or two days every month aside special for praying at an abortion mill. I'm open to any suggestions!

Rascal Flatts!

Rascal Flatts is my all time favorite Country artist!!! "My Wish", "Bless the Broken Road", and "Mayberry" are some of their most awesome songs!!! A few days ago, I came across this video while trying to find a video that would help me learn how to play "My Wish" on the piano. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHlt7NKKwmE&feature=related It's only part of the song, but I thought it sounded very nice!

Here's the song with lyrics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQZvaDzyqHg

Aren't the lyrics great?

Trans-Siberian Orchestra

I know...it's not Christmas anymore, but I still would like to share this!

This TSO song is called "Wisdom of Snow": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2qs75YJVZA (I am not playing the song in the video). While I was on a trip, I watched this video along with other videos like it. I thought it was nice and easy enough to play on the piano. When I got home from the trip, I practiced the song and was able to play it pretty well after about 2 hours of practice. It was fun! I like playing the song a bit faster than the one played in the video.
